Get control of passwords the simple, easy way with Keychain

use keychain to login to websites automatically

Apple’s Password Manager Rocks!

Apple’s password manager is one of the many reasons that I recommend buying Apple computers. I know they seem expensive but when you see the value, you will find a way. I just bought a Refurbished MacBook Pro for only $475 and I love it almost as much as my Chromebook!

Safari offers to remember your passwords and log you in and, when you create a new account, it suggests a complex, secure password.

It works the same on your mobile devices too.

(There may be times when a website doesn’t allow autofill, for example, at public terminals or when a site has been coded to specifically block autofill)

Here’s How It Works

When you login to an account, Safari asks you if you want it to remember the password and you just click on “Yes”.

If it doesn’t ask, check the Preferences

  • Click Safari
  • Click Preferences
  • Click Passwords
  • The check box next to “Autofill user names and passwords” needs to be checked
  • Close the window by clicking the red dot.

Note: this is where you can go to see a list of your sites and their passwords too.

To see your passwords

  • Click Safari
  • Click Preferences
  • Click Passwords
  • Check the box next to “show passwords”
  • Enter your Admin/Owner password
  • Select the site for which you want to see the password.
  • Close the window.

Safari Autofill

Safari will autofill, forms on websites with account and credit card information and your contact information.

  1. Click Preferences
  2. Click Autofill to verify that these options are checked or to uncheck them if desired

It’s convenient features like these that make Apple products such a pleasure to use.

If you have questions about buying a computer or if you need help with Keychain or other apps, just call or send me an email and we’ll set up a time to get together — in person or via remote access.    Enjoy!

Money Saving Tips for Cable, WiFi and Best Email Services

Important Tips on Internet service, Wifi and Email providers.

This past week, I signed up for Time Warner Internet service, and I have several important tips for you.

  1. If you want to get your internet service started faster, you can pick up the modem and WiFi unit at one of Time Warner’s offices and hook it up yourself rather than wait for an appointment with a technician.  It’s pretty simple to do. If you should need help you can call their tech support.  I have found their customer service to be excellent.  (Sometimes there is a bit of a wait to get someone on the line, but I just put the phone on speaker and do something else while I wait.)

  1. If you will be using Time Warner Internet Service for more than a year, you can save money by buying your own modem and WiFi device rather than paying the monthly fees to use Time Warner’s.

  1. Don’t use their email service! (Don’t use Verizon’s or any other internet service provider’s either.)  If you ever change providers, you will lose access to that email address and will have to notify all your contacts of your change of email address.  You should be using an independent service like Gmail, Hotmail, Outlook.com, or Yahoo so you can keep the same email address if you move or have to change internet service providers.

Yahoo Mail vs. Outlook.com vs. Gmail vs. AOL Mail

Note:

  1. I do not recommend AOL.  It has not kept upwith the latest advances and too many of my clients have had major trouble with it, especially the desktop application which crashes and ties up the computer.  I recommend that AOL users move to one of the other services as soon as possible.

  1. Many of my clients have had their yahoo email accounts hacked.  I’m not sure if it is a problem with Yahoo or that my clients have used weak passwords.  Yahoo got high ratings in the above article, so if you decide to use it, be sure to choose a very secure password.

  1. Gmail is my personal favorite, because of it’s many extra features and it’s excellent spam guards.  However, the interface can be confusing and many of my clients do not need all its bells and whistles.  If you want great free productivity tools for your business or personal life, you will love it.

Aerial Panorama Virtual Tours

Panoramic View of Moscow

Air Pano.ru 360 Aerial Panorama Virtual Tours is Amazing. Not only is it beautiful, but it is a stellar example of how technology is bringing the world closer together and fostering peace and understanding.

Of course it takes a loving and peaceful consciousness, but the truth of our Oneness struck me so powerfully as I viewed Hagia Sophia at Sunrise.

It was interesting to me also, that this is a Russian project, because the US and Russia have been adversaries for so many years.

On a human, rather than political level we are all the same…appreciative of beauty and impassioned with creativity.

AirPano is a Moscow based non-commercial group of photo enthusiasts, dedicated to creating hi-resolution aerial panoramas.
